NEW: Two security guards up for murder

Two security guards have been arrested at a mine in Hope Fountain, Bulawayo, on allegations of shooting and killing a man they accused of illegally mining at Carry Mine.

Jabulani Nyathi (53) and Musabvunza Mabumure (40) shot dead a yet-to-be-identified man, who was part of a group of artisanal miners carrying out illegal mining activities at the mine on Monday.

“Police in Bulawayo have arrested two security guards – Jabulani Nyathi (53) and Musabvunza Mabumure (40) – in connection with a murder case in which a yet-to-be-identified artisanal miner was shot dead with a shotgun on April 10, 2023 at Carry Mine, Hope Fountain,” said Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi.
