FORMER Zimpapers corporate affairs manager, Beatrice Tonhodzai, has been roped into the new Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) board.
Tonhodzai and nine others were unveiled by Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Mangaliso Ndhlovu at an event held in the capital yesterday.
The minister called on the new members to be geared up to influence the tourism industry to generate critical revenue for the country’s economy.
Ray Mawerera has been appointed the new board chairman while Dr Precious Sibiya will be his deputy.
Winnie Muchanyuka is ZTA’s new chief executive officer.
The rest of the board is made up of Tonhodzai, Rita Likukuma (who once acted as ZTA chief executive officer), Veneranda Munyoro, Tare Munzara, Precious Mazhande and Admire Ndlovu.
ZTA announced that three more members will be added to the board.
As its main focus, the incoming board, is expected to provide solutions to resuscitate local tourism post the Covid-19 era while promoting Zimbabwe as a destination of choice.
