NO PREMATURE PARTY FOR MAPEZA’S TROOPS

Sports Reporter
FC PLATINUM coach, Norman Mapeza, says there is still everything to play for and his men will handle their remaining assignments like true professionals.

The Zvishavane-based side already have one hand on the PSL title.

They need six points to be confirmed champions for the fourth time on the bounce.

They face Herentals in their next match at Mandava on Saturday on the back of a smash and grab 3-2 win over Highlanders at Barbourfields last Sunday.

Pure Platinum Play have a 10-point gap between them and second-placed Chicken Inn.

“There are still five games to go and we have to keep working hard until we get to the end of the season,” said Mapeza.

“We don’t want to think much about our position on the table, but to focus on maintaining our rhythm.

“If I’m to think of numbers as a coach, I will lose focus.

“But, I have to continue working hard and keep on getting positive results until the season ends.

“Our focus now is on the Herentals game which I believe is going to be difficult, but it’s our objective to play all remaining fixtures with the same intensity and desire to collect maximum points,” he said.

FC Platinum lost 0-1 to Herentals in the reverse fixture at the National Sports Stadium.

Herentals are sixth on the log with 44 points from 11 wins, 11 draws and seven losses.

The Students will probably collect the Most Improved Team in the PSL this season.

They have been punching above their weight and are just one of THREE clubs to have found a way to beat the champions this season.

Interestingly, the two clubs will also meet in the semi-finals of the Chibuku Super Cup at Mandava.
