Nyabinde in town

THE headmaster-cum-musician, Bob Nyabinde and his band, the Savanna Drive, will serenade afro-jazz revellers tomorrow (Saturday) at Motoring Club in Mutare.The Chabuda Hapana hit-maker and veteran afro-jazz musician confirmed the show on Tuesday and said he was excited to perform in Mutare after a long time.

Nyabinde who last released his fourth album in 2013 ‘Anzwa Hama’ after a six-year recording hiatus, said Mutare revellers should brace themselves for a memorable evening.

“All I can say is I am excited about the Motoring show as I have not performed in Mutare in a long time.

“I always enjoy performing in Mutare and fans should expecting fireworks tomorrow,” said Nyabinde.

Nyabinde, who is among the most venerated crooners in the country hit the spotlight in 2002 after releasing his first album, Panenyaya, which had the famous song, Chabuda Hapana.

Back then when he sang that album he was still a primary school headmaster at a Kwekwe school before hanging his tie to become a fulltime musician.

In 2004, he produced his second album Ndiratidze which became another chartbuster followed by Terera in 2006.

Nyabinde’s music is known for its deep lyrics and sometimes satirical nature in tracks like ‘Mhanya mbiri’ and Ndiratidze that often send revelers on their heels at shows.
