Dongo clears air on Ndabambi

PARTSON Ndabambi was only invited for an interview at Dongo Sawmills and no valid contract was signed between the two parties, the owner of the team, Francis Dongo, has said.Dongo, who also confirmed that his team was exploring ways of bolstering its technical department to avert relegation, said this in an interview this week as he dismissed reports that his team had signed the nomadic former ZPC Kariba assistant coach.

“We only invited Partson Ndabambi for an interview so that we could see whether he is the right person for us to help stir our ship to safe waters. However, we did not agree in principle. He has since returned to his Harare base.

“Yes, we are exploring ways to bolster our technical department and that should not come as a surprise to anyone given our position on the table as well as the number of games that we have played so far this season,” Dongo said.

After 11 rounds of Castle Lager Premiership league matches, Dongo Sawmills have only amassed a paltry four points out of a possible 44 points, a situation that has naturally left club owner exploring ways of turning the tables to avert relegation.

Dongo Sawmills will face equally struggling fellow new boys Flame Lily at Larfage Stadium tomorrow (Saturday) in Match Day 12 of the domestic top-flight league.

After tomorrow’s match, the relegation threatened outfit will return to Vengere to host Harare City.

Meanwhile, their fellow Manicaland based side, Buffaloes will travel to Bulawayo for a tricky date against log leaders, Chicken Inn at Luveve Stadium tomorrow.

At least Buffaloes have given their fans a reason to believe that there could be light at the end of the tunnel after outplaying Harare City 2-1 at Sakubva Stadium last Sunday.

Buffaloes are now precariously hanging on fifth position from the bottom with 12 points to show for the 11 matches they have played so far.
