THREE Nyatsime men yesterday appeared in court answering to allegations of public violence, after they allegedly burnt a house belonging to a member of their rival political party.
Precious Jeche, Misheck Guzha and Odius Makoma appeared before Harare magistrate, Dennis Mangosi, who remanded them in custody to today, for bail considerations. The court heard that on June 14, the trio, in the company of their accomplices who are still at large, were at the funeral service for the late Moreblessing Ali, in the Nyatsime area, Beatrice.
They conspired to engage in acts of violence to revenge the murder of Ali.
Pursuant to their plan, the trio — and their accomplices — were transported from different areas in and around Chitungwiza.
They were and moved around the Nyatsime area on foot, stoning houses, breaking window panes and burnt the house belonging to an official of a rival party.
Thereafter they allegedly proceeded to Chibhanguza Shopping Centre where they torched a gazebo, damaged windows of 13 shops, four beer halls and looted groceries and electrical gadgets.
They also assaulted people and damaged motor vehicles.
In total, the State alleges that the trio and their accomplices damaged properties, and houses, of 53 people in the Nyatsime local area.
They allegedly fled the scene after the arrival of the ZRP Reaction Group. Moses Mapanga appeared for the State.
