Park encounter leads to jail time for man who had sex with minor

The court heard that the 33-year-old married woman of Ruvimbo Phase 1 in Chinhoyi, was allegedly abducted by Felix Mumba and sexually assaulted .

A 22-YEAR-OLD man from Bulawayo has appeared in court facing charges of having sexual intercourse with a minor.

The matter came to light when Dylan Chirwa was caught kissing the 16-year-old girl at a local park.

Dylan Chirwa appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Mehluli Moyo facing one count of having sexual intercourse with a minor.

He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 10 months in prison, of which five months were suspended on condition that he does not commit a similar offense within a period of five years. The remaining five months were further suspended on condition that he completes 170 hours of community service.

During sentencing, the complainant revealed that they had been in a relationship for 11 months and that the accused had promised to marry her.

She asked the court to forgive him.

The court heard that on 9 November 2024, the accused and the complainant were spotted together kissing at a local park by neighbours.

It was heard that the two were dragged to the police station where a report was made by the neighbours, and the complainant’s grandparents were called and informed of the matter.
