Yung Reece reflects on music career

The name Yung Reece is common in the local Hip Hop circles as the young artiste can arguably be counted amongst young acts who have changed the Rap scene with his unique sound and style.

Born Edwin Ndlovu, Yung Reece was introduced as an underground rapper back in 2018. Since then, the young talented lad has been tirelessly working hard to hone his craft and make sure his name lives on.

To be counted amongst dope MCs in the game, Yung Reece’s breakthrough song, “Resta” featuring Eskeettit Gang and Lamas Els, is the one that propelled him and acquired him a firm grip on the map.

He said he decided to follow his passion for music because he felt that it was a calling that he immediately needed to answer and fulfill his purpose on earth.

“Music is my life, it’s what drives me and inspires me to be a better person. As I look back recounting on my music journey, I believe my first single Resta was a game-changer for me as it opened doors to new opportunities and allowed me to share my music with a wider audience.

“The song’s success paved the way for me to collaborate with notable artistes and share the stage with prominent acts,” said Yung Reece.

Creatives that Yung Reece has managed to work with include the late Cal_Vin, Asaph Africa as well as Fab G, amongst others.

He has also shared the stage with prominent acts such as Winky D, Young Stunna, Killer Tee, Holy Ten, Volts JT as well as Babes Wodumo from South Africa.

Despite facing significant challenges over the years trying to establish himself, Yung Reece said he was able to overcome various obstacles by leveraging the power of social media.

“Social media is a game changer especially on the marketing and promotion of the music and no artiste, especially us the young ones can ignore. With the advent of social media I have managed to sell myself to the right targeted market and this has enabled me to understand segmentation and when and how to feed my followers music.

“Social media has a great opportunity for everyone and I encourage creatives to be visible on these platforms so as to promote continuous engagement with their – fans that can keep someone’s career alive,” said Yung Reece.
