Pastor Tahuwona’s Easter message

Entertainment Correspondent
MECHANIC Manyeruke-inspired gospel musician Pastor Heavens Tahuwona urges people to remain steadfast in times of hardships and temptations in his new nine-track album, Namata Urinde. The album, released last week, was produced by Olin Anderson. It carries uplifting gems that inspire people to have faith in the future and pin their hopes on God.

Tracks on the album are Huyai mose, Kana Toyambuka, Namata urinde, Hakuna anoramba, Jerusalem, Hatina musha, Ndiyambutsei rwizi, Apo Jesu and Nzvimbo yakanaka.

Tahuwona, in an interview, said his life experiences inspired him to come up with a soulful project that would act as a pillar of hope and strength to believers who are in seemingly hopeless situations. In the title track, Namata urinde, he advises people to be prayerful always and be watchful to the devil’s deceptive and cunning machinations.
He blends his hoarse voice with the silky-voiced female backing vocalists. Seasoned guitarist Joseph Makureya features on the album as a lead and bass guitarist.

The 47-year-old musician, a devout United Methodist Church member, said he ventured into own projects after spending several years as a member of choral gospel group Resurrection Power gospel singers.

Through the new offering, he hopes to venture into the mainstream gospel industry.
Local gospel godfather, Blessing Shumba and South Africa-based gospel supremo, Sipho Makhabane completes the cast of his inspirations.

“In so many times, Christians invite misfortunes by staying miserable and worried. Some of them are living a dejected and hopeless life because they underestimate the blessings thrust upon them by our Father, Jesus Christ. We are blessed beyond measure and in all my songs I encourage people to have the word of God engraved in their hearts and have faith in the future. I hope fellow believers will be blessed by this package.

“This is an Easter message to everyone and I hope they will be blessed. I feel blessed to come up with this album and I will be commencing live shows. I left Resurrection Power Gospel singers in a bid to learn more about music and do my own projects but we are in good books,” said Tahuwona who is backed by the star-studied vocalists and instrumentalists Voice of Worship.
