POLICE are investigating the death of a former inmate at Whawha Prison, who was stabbed by unknown assailants, a few hours after his release.
The late Reason Rupaya was released on June 27 and left the correctional facility in the company of four other released inmates.
Police found the body dumped near Pfende Business Centre, Gweru, and observed a deep wound in the deceased’s armpit.
Zimbabwe Republic Police national spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.
“Police in Gweru are appealing for information which may assist in the investigation of a murder case, where Reason Rupaya (49), was found dead on June 29, 2022 near Pfende Business Centre.
“The body of the victim was found with a deep wound in the armpit,” Nyathi said.
Meanwhile, in another suspected brutal attack by unknown assailants, a man was found dead at a lodge near Chinhoyi’s main rank.
Investigations point that the incident took place around 0100hrs on June 30.
