He said the transformer would not only help the training centre but would also benefit the community and new resettlements around.
“The new transformer which will also be connected to the community around is expected to change people’s lives in the constituency. We expect the Chipinge Vocational Training Centre to be the main beneficiary of this project because enrolment at this centre has been low for long as a result of absence of power. By this year end we will make sure that all boarding facility will be reconnected with electricity so that the centre will restore its yesteryear status. We need our youths in the district to benefit by acquiring skills from this training centre,” he said.
Dr Mlambo said the project would be extended to improve water facilities as well as helping in reducing water-borne diseases.
The surrounding areas which are expected to benefit include Mandere, Magedhimatatu, Gambadziya as well as Ward 12 which has the highest number of households.
“The installation of the transformer will resuscitate marketing gardening in the area which has been in a sorry state after the breakdown of the transformer. The constituency is the supply hub of market gardening produces which feed Chipinge urban. There shall be communal taps which will benefit interested households in assessing clean water,” he said
