A-15-YEAR-OLD Rusape teenager last week alleged that she was raped by her boyfriend after her mother recently discovered that she was five months pregnant.
Police have since arrested Learmore Moyo (20) of Mabvazuwa, Rusape on allegations of raping his 15-year-old girlfriend who hails from the same neighbourhood in August last year. Confirming the incident, Manicaland police spokesperson, Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa, said the duo was said to have been in love for an unspecified period of time.
“Moyo and this teenager were said to have been in love for some time. On the day in question, the girl visited her boyfriend at his place, not too far from where she stayed.
“Moyo, however, allegedly raped her once and she left. She went back home and did not report the matter to anyone,” said Insp Kakohwa.
“It was only on January 8 when the girl’s mother entered the bathroom in which she was bathing and discovered that she was pregnant,” he added.
Insp Kakohwa said investigations were in progress to determine what really transpired.
