Special Presidential Advisor on Monitoring Implementation of Government Programmes, Dr Joram Gumbo, has visited the Chimoio Shrine in Mozambique, where over 1 200 Zimbabwean liberation war heroes are buried.

The visit comes ahead of Heroes Day commemorations and is part of ongoing efforts to preserve liberation heritage sites and deepen historical consciousness among Zimbabweans.

Dr Gumbo described the shrine as a sacred place symbolising the sacrifices that brought about the country’s independence.

He said the visit was a reminder of the collective responsibility to protect the legacy of fallen heroes and ensure their final resting places are treated with the same dignity as the National Heroes Acre.
