A 30-year-old man from Savanhu Village Mayaramba under Chief Seke appeared before Chitungwiza Magistrate Court where he was denied bail for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl.
Luckmore Believe Mugabe is a prophet at Johanne Masowe Ejerusalem and is being accused of raping a girl from his church, who is a Grade Seven student.
He was remanded in custody to December 11 for trial on two counts of rape.
It is alleged that in February 2023 around 3 pm, Luckmore went to the alleged victim’s house and asked her mother for the 13-year-old girl to sleep at his house since he was going for an all-night prayer meeting and she agreed.
At around 8 pm in the evening, Luckmore returned home claiming he had left a clay pot.
He allegedly locked the door and took a knife which he used to scare the complainant and asked her to remove her clothes.
On the second count, the victim was sent by her mother to give Luckmore an inverter.
He allegedly slept with her without her consent again.
Further allegations are that on November 5, the mother of the complainant visited a prophetess who then prophesied that her daughter was sexually abused which led to Luckmores’ arrest on November 18.
