TWO daring armed robbers last Saturday pounced on a Rusape beerhall and made good their escape with cash and airtime recharge cards worth $421. Deputy Manicaland provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Muzondiwa Clean appealed to members of the public with information leading to the arrest of the duo to contact their nearest police station.

He said the robbery took place at around 10pm, at Ben Bar at Mabvazuva Business Centre.

“Patrons were drinking beer before they dispersed at around 10pm. One of the two accused asked the cashier, Irene Tsogo, the way to the toilet before he proceeded to relieve himself. Minutes later he came back wearing a woollen maroon mask. He produced a pistol from his trousers. He demanded cash and a cell phone from Tsogo,” he said.

Tsogo surrendered the cash box which had $231, a cell phone and airtime recharge cards worth $15. He ordered her to lie down.

One of the two accused proceeded to a cocktail bar leaving his co-accused on guard.

He demanded cash from another cashier, Jacob Zindi, and assaulted him with a gun muzzle.

He took away $40 and a Samsung cell phone. He forced him to lie down and keep mum before they vanished.
