LOVE by DESIGN
Finding love can seem like a daunting task in today’s ever-evolving world.
We have looked at how to be more loving and more lovable and we have discussed some traits to look out for in potential partners.
I, however, still meet great individuals who seem to still be struggling with finding genuine love in this modern day.
In the pursuit of love, have you ever felt like: “just when you thought you knew the answers, they went and changed all the questions?”
Feeling like you are always having to catch up or keep up in order to get a breakthrough in love? If you can relate, you are not alone. With the rise of dating apps, social media, and changing societal norms, the landscape of love is more complex than ever.
But fear not, I have got you. Bit by bit, we will keep chipping away at the mystery of love, till each one finds exactly what they are looking for.
Do you know you are the answer to someone’s prayer for love if you are still single and searching? That is where we are this week, just sharing insights, guidance, encouragement, and practical advice to help you in the journey to finding your special someone because that person is out there somewhere, likely also looking for you.
So where is love then?
Love is anywhere and everywhere I would say. It can be found in the most unexpected places, (I recall mentioning this previously) and it is essential to keep an open mind and heart. Love can come through social circles, such as friends, family, and colleagues.
It might come through online platforms, as in dating apps, social media, and online communities. Other ways that love may just strike are:
Hobbies and interests: You could consider joining clubs, groups, or classes.
Volunteer work: (One of my personal favourites) Meet like-minded individuals while offering services for worthy causes. It can be life changing for you as well.
Chance encounters: Serendipity can strike, and there have been some amazing stories in this regard where people just “happened” to meet and resulting in what some may call “love at first sight”.
A question that eludes some love seekers though is: To wait or not to wait?
While waiting patiently can be beneficial, it is crucial to remain proactive as we have shared in the column before — you know — focussing on aspects such as:
Self-improvement: Develop your passions, skills, and character.
Personal growth: Work on emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and confidence.
Building meaningful connections: Nurture friendships and relationships.
Exploring interests: Try new activities, travel — kumboonawo new places, refreshing and broadening one’s horizons. It really does something for the soul and can set the tone for new experiences, including new friendships and possibly love itself.
This article would not be complete without reminding one another of some of the traits that put off potential partners.
So for women:
Insecurity and low self-esteem, overemphasis on material possessions, dishonesty or lack of transparency, Unwillingness to compromise, excessive drama or negativity.
For Men:
Lack of emotional intelligence, Insensitivity or disrespect, Self-centred or arrogance, Unreliability or flakiness and inability to communicate effectively,
Some “do’s and don’ts” of finding love
Do: Be genuine and authentic.
Communicate openly and honestly.
Show interest and listen actively.
Respect boundaries and differences.
Take calculated risks pane dzimwe nguva
Do not:
Play games or manipulate emotions.
Focus solely on physical appearance.
Be overly critical or judgemental.
Rush into relationships.
Set unrealistic expectations.
When to take the relationship serious?
When you find that there are shared values and goals
Emotional connection deepens.
Communication becomes effortless.
Trust and vulnerability grow.
Long-term potential becomes apparent.
Ultimately remember this:
Love yourself first, stay positive and hopeful, practice patience and persistence, cultivate meaningful relationships and really keep an open heart and mind.
But more importantly, I would love to hear from you about what your experience has been in either looking for or waiting for love?
Share your thoughts, experiences, and advice on this continuing topic, you never know who needs what you know. Even if you have already found love, Your stories and insights can inspire and support others on their journey to love.
Remember, love is possible, and it’s worth the wait. Keep believing, stay open-hearted, and trust that your special someone is on their way.
One of my favourite lessons on love is from 1 Corinthians 13v 4-8:
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; [a] it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. (English Standard Version).
Are you ready for true love? Happy searching then, and may love find you soon! I would be so overjoyed for you.
