Sekuru Banda invades Byo market

HARARE-based traditional healer Sekuru Banda who once demanded an audience with the Pope has invaded Bulawayo.

Born Kamwelo Banda in the Mangoli Katuli village of Malawi, the traditional healer tasted local waters a fortnight ago at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) when hordes of people crowded him while he rubbed shoulders with captains of industry and politicians.

During his brief stay at the time he had people consult him for free and now he says he will make regular visits to the city.

a?What I have is a gift. Instead of people always coming to see me in Harare, there are some who are very busy and some who cannot afford to travel because of financial constraints. Therefore, I will be coming to Bulawayo from time to time,a? he said.

This year the ZITF drew record crowds not seen in recent years and Sekuru Banda just like local and foreign exhibitors as well as show visitors benefited from spin offs.

a?I swear if it were not for the trade fair, I would have not considered this outreach programme,a? he told B-Metro over the phone.

Sekuru Banda is on record claiming that heas from a family of strong medicine men, as such he has the power to communicate with marine and ancestral spirits to solve peopleas problems.

In an interview with some local newspapers last week, Banda said popular prosperity preachers (without giving names) are some of his biggest clients.

a?They mostly want powers to draw numbers to their churches. I donat really care what they say, I just help them like any other person,a? he said.

Banda is not just a traditional healer a he is the equivalent of prosperity preachers who donat waste time in showing off their razzmatazz lifestyles.

In Harare from time to time the healer attends A-list celebrity functions where he mixes and mingles with celebrities.

Some of them have since become his clients. . .
