A DRAW was probably the fairest result in this lively ZIFA Eastern Region Division One match as crosstown rivals Manica Diamonds Juniors and Buffaloes played out a 1-1 stalemate.

After going into the breather goalless, both sides came back for the second half rejuvenated.

Former Premiership side Buffaloes raced into the lead against the run of play through the seasoned Phillip Chandisaita after their opponents failed to clear the lines following a corner kick.

Manica Diamonds Juniors responded with sporadic raids of their own and were duly rewarded when Munashe Mapungwana fired home from close range after Buffaloes goalkeeper Chengetai Tandadzai had made a mess of a hapless-looking cross.

Both coaches felt the game was there for the taking.

“It was disappointing to allow that goal in after taking the lead. We gifted them after a schoolboy mistake by our ‘keeper,” said Buffaloes coach Dananai Chinowawa.

His counterpart Hibron Makukutu said: “We should have won that game after finding our way back. Our second half was good and deserved more than just one goal as our application was fine.”
