The shocking details emerged as the accused, name withheld to protect the identity of the victim, appeared before Magistrate Sibongile Marondedze at the Western Commonage Courts. The court heard how, in November 2024, the accused was at home in
Nkulumane with the young victim and his step-younger brother. After a row over the accused assaulting the younger boy, the accused allegedly seized his chance.
According to prosecutor Christina Manyika, Maseko dragged the terrified 12-year-old into his room, forced her onto the bed, and then ordered her to strip. When she bravely resisted, he allegedly ripped her clothes off by force before brutally raping her without consent! The court was told how the accused threatened to kill both her and her younger brother if she dared to tell anyone.
The horrific ordeal came to light on 23 April 2025, when the victim visited her mother in Chegutu. Her mother noticed a foul discharge and immediately took her to the hospital, where the brave girl finally disclosed the unspeakable act. A medical report is set to be presented as crucial evidence when the trial continues on 18 June
