SIMBA Bhora president, Simba Ndoro, has confirmed that they will host Nsingizini Hotspurs in Francistown, Botswana, in their first round of the CAF Champions League preliminary round, next month.

The Shamva side will welcome the Eswatini champions at Obed Itani Chilume Stadium on September 19.

The venue of the reverse fixture has not been confirmed yet but the clash will take place seven days later.

Simba Bhora will be participating in the continent’s flagship inter-club competition for the first time, having won the Castle Lager Premiership last season.

They are currently enjoying a slender lead in their quest to repeat last season’s success when they won the championship.

They are on 53 points, just a point above Scottland.

“We have decided to host Nsingizini in Botswana because we felt that will be a perfect venue which will also suit our budget,” said Ndoro.

“The plan is to make the most of the little that we have and we are quite confident that Zimbabweans in Botswana will give us enough support to progress to the next round of the competition.

“We are not too ambitious but everyone associated with the club knows that we have to make our mark on our first attempt.”

Simba Bhora will face Greenfuel on Saturday in a PSL. Greenfuel suffered a 0-2 loss at the hands of Dynamos last Sunday.

Rodwell Dhlakama’s troops are two points away from safety with eight games to play before the end of the campaign.

Simba Bhora are going into this match on the back of a 3-1 win over Kwekwe United.

The two sides settled for a goalless draw in the reverse fixture at Wadzanai.

  1. Like seriously? Are we not embarrassed as a football family? How does ZIFA and PSL leadership manage to carry themselves around in public? How does the Minister of Sport sleep soundly at home? How does the entire nation comfortably consider such an arrangement normal? For how long should we be the laughing stock of the whole football world? Has anyone seen the state of our “citadel” of football, Rufaro stadium, lately? If that doesn’t strip us of all our human dignity, nothing will. Little Eswatini will use its own Somhlolo stadium for local matches while “big brother” Zimbabwe scrounges for stadiums from neighbours for her home matches. What a sad state of affairs. Shame on us!
