A MUTARE woman has approached the courts seeking protection against her son whom she accuses of working to destroy her second marriage. Regina Tiriwepi appeared before Mrs Yeukai Chigodora seeking the court’s protection against her son, Douglas Dhimukwa, who is assaulting her together with her husband Mica. “Your Worship I was once married to Dhimukwa’s father but we divorced and his father had the custody of the children. Dhimukwa later ran away from his father’s house to my homestead claiming that his stepmother was emotionally abusing him,” she said. The two were living in peace till recently when Tiriwepi got married and moved in with Mica.
“Your Worship I’m being physically and emotionally injured by my own child. The child I carried in my womb for 9 months,” she told the court. Tiriwepi also told the court that at one time she ran away from her son together with her new husband but he followed and harassed them. Dhimukwa did not attend court and, therefore, Mrs Chigodora granted the protection order as Tiriwepi wished.
The magistrate advised her to have her son arrested if he disturbs her peace.
