VESTRI forward, Silas Songani, has praised his teammates following his inclusion in the Icelandic First Division Team of the Week.
The former FC Platinum man was on the score sheet over the weekend in his side’s 3-1 win over Grotta.
His weekend goal was the second on the bounce and it was also his third tome in the Icelandic league’s Team of the Week in only five starts in the season.
Songani told H-Metro he still believes they can earn a Premiership spot despite being nine points behind the log leaders.
“I’m really happy to be in the league’s Team of the Week. I think if it wasn’t for my teammates, I wouldn’t have made it,” said Songani.
“It’s always encouraging as a player to have a group of people, who believe in your abilities.
“I’m aiming to score more goals in the remaining fixtures and I believe we have a chance to be promoted into the top-flight league next season.
“I believe all Zimbabwean players playing in better leagues should do well whenever they play to market the country’s football.
“If we can have more players shining in European leagues, it will easily attract scouts and that’s another way of developing our football.”
Kundai Benyu’s Icelandic Premiership team IBV, appear to be getting into the groove.
They collected their second full set of points for the second time in the campaign, over the weekend, having gone 12 games without a win.
They are now third-from-the-bottom.
