Songbird dreams big

Mary Mutamiri
AFRO-FUSION artist and comedienne, Yaya Saru, believes she is destined for the stars despite stiff competition.

Born Memory Chinamasa, the versatile artist revealed she will not give up her dream when it comes to music.

“It’s not easy to attract people’s attention when you are new in the music industry. I am that kind of person who is passionate about music, I was born an artist. Giving up is not an option when it comes to my passion,” she said.

She added: “It was not rosy when I started, to be honest. The more I tried to push my music, the more I encountered more challenges. But I kept telling myself that this is my passion and I will not give up,” said Saru.

She disclosed that the experience of working with prominent celebrities pushed her to keep pursing her goals.

“In 2014, I did a single track titled Chengetedza Hupenyu with Jah Prayzah. The experience of working with him was quite good and I learnt a lot of musical  tactics and skills. His history and journey gave me hope that nothing is impossible.

“I also worked with top comediennes − Madam Boss and Mai TT − and they helped me to boost my followers as well as fans,” she said.

The songbird said that she is working on a single track.

“I am working on a single track which will be released in two weeks’ time. I have high hopes that this track will be a hit song.” she added.
