TAFARA 2 HIGH SCHOOL AIMING FOR THE STARS

TAFARA 2 High School aims to have a double-figure pass rate next year.

The school has an enrolment of 880 learners – 489 boys and 391 girls.

In all the performances the school has witnessed so far, the girl child is dominant yet the boys have a numerical advantage.

The school had good academic results and also did well in sporting activities.

The headmaster, Kingston Shonhiwa, urged the boys to rise to the occasion and show their numerical advantage across all activities.

Head, Kingston Shonhiwa

“Our school has fully embraced the heritage-based curriculum hence the variety of activities you have witnessed as forerunners to the awards. Let us celebrate even the little that our learners achieve as this invigorates them to do even better.

“It is not only academic excellence but we also did well in sporting activities.

“Our girls under-15 girls were provincial runners and our Korfball team went up to provincial competitions as well. We took the Under-17 girls District FUTSAL tournament.

“I would want to thank the learners, members of staff, and parents for a very noticeable change in learners’ discipline and the litter-free environment that we now enjoy as a school.

“Without your support, we would not have witnessed this plausible achievement. Keep up the good work. Together we will definitely achieve more.

“It is our fervent hope that come next year, we will be talking of a double figure pass rate.”

Deputy Head, Noel Jasi

The school is coming up with a number of strategies meant to ensure the achievement of a double-figure pass rate.

Chief amongst them, it will introduce a monthly merit badge stemming out of monthly tests for all learning areas.

The badge recipient will spend the whole month donning the badge for all and sundry to see that he/she is the best in a particular area for the month.

“We are working tirelessly round the clock to ensure that Form Ones and Form Twos are in the same session while ensuring that Form Threes and Fours always come in the morning and spend the whole day at school so that they have ample contact time with teachers in preparation for their examinations.

“I would want to appeal to our beloved parents to pay school fees timeously so that the school is always well-resourced. Standards can only be achieved where resources are availed,” he said.

District School Inspector, Godfrey Chimbwanda, advised parents to take a front seat in their children’s education.

DSI, Godfrey Chimbwanda

“I urge you to take an active role in your child’s education. Your support is crucial in reinforcing our values and encouraging academic excellence. Attend parent-teacher conferences, monitor progress, and engage with teachers during Consultation days, AGMs, and EGMs.

“We understand the financial constraints many families face. However, timely fees payment is essential for our sustainability. We implore you to prioritise fees payment to ensure the uninterrupted education of our learners.

“The government is saying learners must not be sent home to collect fees but it is the responsibility of the parents to pay the fees.

“The school has made significant strides in fostering a culture of discipline and respect.

“The school is gradually becoming a litter-free environment as pronounced by His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Cde E D Mnangagwa. The students have demonstrated exceptional behaviour change, and I am proud of their growth.”
