THANK YOU ZIM, WE’RE HUMBLED…..We had a challenging 2024, we are bullish about a successful 2025

Robson Sharuko

H-Metro Editor

LAST month, we asked our readers to rate our service during the entire course of 2024 and we received an overwhelming response.

We felt it was important that we also get honest feedback from our readers to guide us in our operations this year – areas where we came short and the areas we can improve.

We also asked our readers to tell us what they expect from us this year.

Today, we publish many of the responses from our readers.

H-Metro is more than the physical newspaper we publish, distribute and sell on the streets around the country.

The response from our readers was refreshing – there were some who felt that we came short in some areas, others praised us for the job we are doing while some were critical of us.

Many were not happy with our website and we have taken note of that and we can assure that there will be significant changes this year.

Our website is the who we are on the digital forums and the glitches, which the readers have noted, are not acceptable.

What makes the Mailonline website of choice in the world, when it comes to newspapers, is because of its appeal and that it is very user-friendly.

These are the levels that we want to get to and we can assure our readers that we will get there in the end and this year they will see significant changes.

It’s very important that our website performs to expectations because a significant number of our readers are now on our digital platforms because the trends for consuming news have changed around the world.

We are not a rag-tag newspaper.

We are a professional media organisation guided by ethics in our news coverage and that is why we don’t just rush to post stuff, like those who are competing against us, for the sake of attracting likes on our various digital platforms.

We have to publish verified material and we have to fact check everything that comes our way and reach a conclusion that it is factual and we have tried, as best as we can, to get the other side’s comments.

We had a challenging year in 2024 but we tried our best to be the tabloid of choice when it comes to real life and real drama in this country.

Our exclusive story on Madzibaba Ishmael, which has exposed the abuse of scores of girls, young women and women was our highlight of the year.

It has been feasted by many reputable international news agencies around the world.

The H-Metro special editions that we published were huge revenue game changers for us and it is now clear that we have become the publication of choice when it comes to those editions.

The feedback from our readers shows that we have a big constituency out there and that piles a lot of responsibility on us to ensure that we serve it with the professionalism that it deserves.

We cannot take our readers for granted because without them there will be no H-Metro to talk about.
