PREMIERSHIP side Black Rhinos’ coach Arthur Tutani says he wants to build a team whose success will evoke the glory days of the ‘80s when Chauya Chipembere were champions. Last year, Rhinos escaped from the jaws of relegation in the last game of the season and Tutani says his dream is to build a side that can be champions again.
“We are building a team that should try to get just half of what was achieved by the team of Shepherd Murape and Ashton Nyazika,” said Tutani.
“If we get half that, it should be some achievement and we should be using Rimuka as our home ground this season because we do not want to disappoint the fans.”
Tutani says goalkeeper Herbert Rusawo will be under the spotlight this season and wants him to take his game a notch higher.
Last season, Rusawo was voted the Castle Lager Premiership Goalkeeper of the Year and this award based on his having conceded the least number of goals during the season.
Rusawo beat Warriors goalkeeper George Chigova and Munyaradzi Diya who had made it among the 11 finalists.
But Tutani has advised his goalkeeper to work hard this season as he is likely to come under a lot of pressure during Rhinos’ matches.
Last week Rusawo conceded twice as Rhinos lost 0-2 to Dynamos in a friendly match at the National Sports Stadium.
“He is a good player but he should not sleep at the wrong time. He should work extra hard because everybody will be looking at him this season.
“We have also brought a new guy in, Tapiwa Zvaiita from Monomotapa, and Samuel Mafukidze, who was the second choice towards the end of last season, is also playing well,” said the gaffer. Tutani said no one was guaranteed a starting jersey without working hard at training.
“I will be talking to him (Rusawo) that last season is over and this is 2014 and we should forget about 2013.
“I think I now have a good goalkeeping department with Rusawo, Mafukidze and Zvaiita from Mono- motapa,” said Tutani.
The coach is assessing former CAPS United wingback Asani Nhongo.
