The crowd swelled as early as 6pm with children, mothers and fathers all making a bee-line to the venue under the full moon. The weather was fine although as the night fell, it brought some chills to those who had not dressed up for the occasion. Business was brisk at the bars and food stalls dotted around the venue. There was something for everyone — popcorn, biltong, braai and more. The electric atmosphere was on and off the stage with some musicians being mobbed as they made their way to the stage or after their scintilating performances. From the stage, lights and the PA system everything was in tip-top.
Topping the bill were some of the country’s sought-after performers including superstar Oliver Mtukudzi and Winky D, who played for the first time at the national concerts.
Tuku, sprang a surprise when he teamed up with his long time ally Piki Kasamba. The Concert was in all fairness a great show that had lots of thrilling acts.
