ISIKHATHI somqando yisikhathi esihluphayo kakhulu ezilinyweni, ikanti zikhona izilimo ezifana le-peas abalimi abakhuthazwa ukuba bazilime ngabalimisi.
UMnumzana Misheck Sibanda ongu-agronomist ubike ukuba abalimi kabalime i-peas ngoba ziyamelana lomqando.
“Abalimi sibakhuthaza ukuba balime i-peas ngoba ngesikhathi somqando ziyavuma.
“Umlimi kumele alungise umhlabathi wakhe ku-top soil utshone okwe-40cm kusiya ku-50cm, kuthi ubumunyu kumele bube yi-6,1 kusiya ku 7,4.
Nxa uhlanyela, kumele isilimo sakho sitshone, sifike ku-4cm. Lapho ohlanyele khona kumele umhlabathi wonke ufanane, ungatshiyani,” kubika uMnu Sibanda.
Uqhubekele phambili ekhuthaza abalimi ukubala amaphetshana ayabe elenhlanyelo ngoba izixwayiso ezilapho ziyancedisa ukuthi isilimo somlimi senze kuhle.
“I-peas zijayele ukuthatha amalanga angu-60 kusiya ku-70 ukuze zivunwe, kusiya ngokuthi uthenge yiphi inhlanyelo.
“Ungathenga inhlanyelo kumele uyibale ukuba ithatha isikhathi esinganani ukuba ivunwe, ezinye zilakho ukuvuthwa ngemva kwamaviki angu-12,” kutsho uMnu Sibanda.
Ubuye wabikela abalimi ngesivuno okumele basikhangelele kusiya ngendawo abayabe beyilimile.
“Ungalima ihekitha eyodwa uthola isivuno esifika ku-100kg kusiya ku-120kg.
“Kungakho ungalima ngendlela okuxwayiswa ngayo ulakho ukuthi uzitholele isivuno esihle ube usuzitshayela imali yakho.
“Ngaleso sizatho ngikhuthaza abalimi ukuba balime i-peas ngesikhathi somqando ngoba azitshazwa,” kubika uMnu Sibanda.
