AN unrepentant maid, who is also an ex-convict, was yesterday jailed three years after she assaulted her employer’s daughter until she became unconscious.
She then fled from the scene.
Tecla Nyengerai was convicted by Harare magistrate, Noticia Shenje, after a full trial.
The court heard that Nyengerai was left in the custody of the child, on February 16, by her employer.
On the same day, at around midday, the child’s mother met her son, as she was on her way from the field, who advised her that his sister had been assaulted by Ngengerai and was now unconscious.
She rushed home but the child had already been taken to the hospital by neighbours while Nyengerai had escaped.
The child had bruises all over her body but wasn’t medically examined.
