A VILLAGER from Chirumhanzu beat up a�?uselessa�? policemen out of frustration.
Munaro Luckson Kunotsva beat upA� Constable Nyika whom he accused of doing injustice on the case he had reported.
The matter came to light when Munaro Luckson Kunotsva appeared before Gweru magistrate Florence Nago facing a charge of assault and he pleaded guilty.
He will spend the next eight months in jail.
In his defence, Kunotsva said he got angry after the police released a person who was a chief suspect pertaining to a case about his stolen goat.
a�?The police released the person who stole my goat, instead of sending him to the courts, they didna��t do justice,a�? said Kunotsva.
Prosecuting for the State, Pearson Muringani told the court that on the first count on June 18 Constable Nyika went to Kunotsvaa��s homestead investigating a theft case that Kunotsva had reported two weeks earlier.
Upon arrival, Kunotsva accused Constable Nyika of releasing the person whom he suspected to have stolen his goat, the court heard.
Out of anger, Kunotsva slapped Constable Nyika on the cheeks and assaulted him with a knobkerrie before setting dogs on him. Nyika then ran away.
On the second count on June 20, Nyika and five other police officers went to Kunotsvaa��s homestead.
Upon seeing the police officers approaching his homestead, he armed himself with a knobkerrie, catapult, axe and metal rod and set his dogs on the officers.
Using his knobkerrie, Kunotsva struck Constable Date Katuka once on his right leg ankle.
The officers eventually arrested him and took him to the police station.
