AN abusive Budiriro 3 man is blaming alcohol for his violent conduct.
His wife, Petronella Sawa, has accused him of being abusive towards her and their 16-year-old son, whenever he gets drunk.
She has since approached the Harare Civil Court seeking a protection order against Gift Tembo.
Magistrate Sharon Mashavire presided over the matter.
“I was referred to the Harare Civil Court by the police after I failed to get treatment at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital, together with my son, after he assaulted us.
“My front-line teeth are shaking with permanent injuries.
“When we report to the police, he calls and threatens to sell our matrimonial home, which we acquired together,” said Petronella.
In response, Gift blamed his conduct on alcohol.
“It is true, everything she said, because we quarrel with each other whenever I am drunk. I have never assaulted my son, he is the one who retaliates whenever I tell him to study or to do any household chores.
“I never threatened to kill my wife as she claims. My wife has to understand that I will be drunk whenever I insult her,” he said.
Magistrate Mashavire granted the protection order in Patronella’s favour.
