Poet Dr Gasolo is proving that passion and purpose know no bounds, after walking over 200 kilometres in just two days as part of his 250km Dr Gasolo Long Walk to Success.

The determined poet completed the first leg of his journey on Thursday afternoon, trekking from Matshetsheni village to Gwanda Town. Upon arrival, he was welcomed by Gwanda-based creative Adrian “Drivo” Musa and dynamic entrepreneur Clive “Mvelase” Dube, owner of King Afghan Wholesalers.

On Friday, Dr Gasolo endured a grueling 16-hour walk from Gwanda to Esigodini, leaving him just one final push to reach his ultimate destination — Bulawayo — later today.

Speaking as he powered past the infamous “Danger Hill” at around 7am, an exhausted but upbeat Dr Gasolo shared the inspiration behind his epic journey.
“Through this walk, I aim to bridge the gap between the business community and creatives, amplify the voices of artists, and raise awareness about drug and substance abuse,” he said.
“Thank you to everyone who’s supported this initiative. Let’s continue to promote arts, culture, and mental health awareness.”

Dr Gasolo’s walk will culminate in a celebratory event at Amakhosi Theatre, where emerging performers will take to the stage. Acts lined up include Babygal 1tym, Mukazi The Love Poet, Mzali Wama 2K, and Queen Nozy, with the event hosted by MaDewa.

The initiative has sparked excitement across the arts community, with supporters hailing Dr Gasolo for putting creatives in the spotlight while tackling pressing social issues.
