WATCH: Fifth Avenue in Bulawayo abandoned as vendors attend Bill No.3 hearings

SCORES of vendors who operate along the busy Fifth Avenue in Bulawayo selling second hand clothes, blankets, groceries among other wares on Monday temporarily left their vending bays to attend public hearings for the Constitution of Zimbabwe (Amendment No. 3) Bill, 2026.

It was not business as usual along Fifth Street, which is normally crowded by vendors selling all sorts of wares jostling for customers, as they headed for the City Hall – the venue of the public hearings.

Parliament has deployed 11 teams throughout the country to conduct public hearings for the Constitution of Zimbabwe (Amendment No. 3) Bill, 2026.

The public hearings mark a critical stage in Zimbabwe’s constitutional reform process, giving citizens a direct platform to shape proposed changes that could significantly alter the country’s electoral framework and governance structure.

The four-day hearings, which will run until Thursday, will be conducted across all the 64 districts, with thousands of Zimbabweans expected to participate.
