A CHITUNGWIZA woman has been tormenting her son’s wife over her previous marriage.
Talent Makatanwa has since approached the Harare Civil Court seeking a protection order against her mother-in-law, Loice Shangwa.
She said her mother-in-law was in the habit of assaulting her ever since she got married to her son.
“I used to stay five houses away from my husband’s family. When we met we got married last year in December after he impregnated me. His mother thinks I don’t deserve her son because of my previous marriage.
“She is always at my place assaulting me in front of the whole community saying I am a prostitute.
“Our age difference is only five years and my husband accepted me like that but his mother is becoming a problem in my marriage,” she said.
In response, the mother-in-law, Loice, said:
“They’re staying at my other residential stand in Budiriro where they’re not paying any rent.
Magistrate Sharon Mashavire, who presided over the matter, granted the protection order in Talent’s favour.
She encouraged Loice to apply for an eviction order.
