A Bulawayo woman who had been deserted by her husband for nine years reunited with him last month after a pastor with a local Pentecostal church prayed for their reunion.
The jubilant Annah Sibanda (39, ABOVE) was deserted by her 44-year-old husband on 20 January 2007 after she had an argument with him.
a?When he left I was three months pregnant. I was left with no clue on how to raise money for the childas preparation and for the upkeep of our two children a Siphiwe and Nokuthaba,a? Sibanda said.
For survival, she took to vending.
a?I thank God because through his mercy I managed to raise money for the upkeep of our children,a? she said.
Deep inside she wished for her husband to come back. She went to great lengths in desperation to lure him back.
a?They (prophets) told me to bring his T-Shirt and trousers and wash them in water prayed for. I did as I was told but it was fruitless because he never came back,a? she added.
Seeing that her efforts had come to nothing, she decided to return to her parentsa home.
a?I went back to my parents after seeing that my efforts were not bearing fruit and worse still life had become tough,a? she said.
After two months of soul searching in a bid to map a way forward her neighbour invited her to Winners in Christ Deliverance Ministry International.
She accepted the invitation but had no clue it would bring joy to her life.
a?I went to church while doubting but I got the shock of my life when Pastor Esther Stella Madondo prayed for me.
He told me that I would re-unite with my husband. I didnat believe it! I got so happy when my lovely husband came home last Sunday,a? she said.
She said her husband is happy and regrets why he left them.
a?He regrets why he deserted us and has since apologised for that. I have accepted him with open hands,a?she said.
The husband chose not to speak or be identified.
Meanwhile, Pastor Esther Stella Madondo has embarked on a charity drive to help under privileged congregants from her church.
a?As a body of Christ we have to shown love to the less privileged church members so that they will believe in the God we are preaching. As a church we have given clothes and mealie-meal to our church members. This has become a routine thing which we are doing every month. We also pay school fees for the underprivileged in our church,a? said Pastor Madondo.
