Zanu-PF Manicaland restructuring on course

Zanu-PF’s restructuring of Manicaland Province is progressing smoothly and will pave way for holding of elections for a provincial executive, a Politburo member has said.

The party’s National Secretary for War Veterans, Detainees, Restrictees and their Welfare, Cde Sydney Sekeramayi, told The Sunday Mail that the party was now more united than ever in the province

The Politburo member was last month tasked to deal with leadership spats in the province.

Cde Sekeramayi said the warring groups had found each other in the interests of the party and the people of Manicaland.

“The restructuring is going on well and by the end of September into early October we will be able to have the (provincial) elections, The most encouraging thing is that our structures have found each other and we are working as one party under the leadership of President Mugabe,” he said.

Cde Sekeramayi said the issue of safeguarding Zanu-PF’s interests and ensuring unity had prevailed during meetings to iron out grievances in the province.

“Everyone spoke about the importance of unity and by September after this process everyone will be satisfied with the exercise we are going through,” he said.

“I have no doubt that the party will be stronger after the ongoing restructuring.”

Cde Sekeramayi said the thrust of the programme was to verify the party’s structures from village to provincial level.
