Zanu-PF Mat South ready for elections

that are in the hands of the MDC formations, deputy provincial spokesperson Cde Jabulani Phetshu said.
Cde Phetshu told Chronicle that his party was working on strengthening structures throughout the province and some “credible cadres” have offered themselves to represent the party at local government, House of Assembly and Senatorial level especially in constituencies held by the MDC formations.
He said the party would announce the names of such candidates in due course.
“President Mugabe has said elections should be held this year and our last conference also resolved that we should go for polls in order to solve the problems affecting the people.
“Although we are going to go for primary elections, in Insiza where I come from, we already have Cde Andrew Langa as our candidate for Insiza North constituency and Cde Naison Khutshwekhaya Ndlovu for the Senate,” said Cde Phetshu.
“These are credible candidates and we are satisfied with them. As for Insiza South, we are working on identifying a suitable candidate. We have a lot of brilliant leaders who can represent the party and win that seat.”
Cde Phetshu said Zanu-PF was concerned and committed to addressing the welfare of ordinary Zimbabweans.
He, however, said the revolutionary party was not able achieve its goals because the other parties in the Inclusive Government were not being sincere.
Cde Phetshu said the civil servants should be awarded a living wage and challenged the responsible ministries to respond accordingly.
“We are in the Inclusive Government but a lot of people blame Zanu-PF for the problems they are facing. This is the first reason why we want to go for elections because our hands are tied. We cannot solve people’s problems in this arrangement.
“The key ministries of labour, finance and public service are run by the MDC-T but they are failing to give people what they want,” said Cde Phetshu.
“If it was Zanu-PF alone we could have addressed these problems. Last time civil servants were awarded a salary increment after President Mugabe’s intervention and this time again the MDC-T has failed.”
He said it was disappointing that MDC-T leader Mr Morgan Tsvangirai has failed even to give a statement over the plight of civil servants and other thousands of workers.
“It is sad really to note that Mr Tsvangirai who is regarded as the coordinator of ministers is not doing anything about the people’s concerns about his ministries.
“Finance Minister Tendai Biti is busy misleading the public that there is no money, which is not true. In the GPA each party has specific ministries and when people complain to the Government let them pinpoint the specific ministry and the party that is letting them down,” said Cde Phetshu.
He said the problems affecting the people could only be solved through holding fresh elections that would do away with the Inclusive Government once and for all.
Cde Phetshu said even if the MDC-T boycotted the elections the people of Zimbabwe would go ahead and vote for the parties that would contest.
