adminKennedy Ndebele, the PSL chief executive officer, whose office began 2012 business yesterday morning after closing for the festive season, said they had asked for the dates from the Zifa chief executive officer Jonathan Mashingaidze.
He said they were looking forward to a busy period ahead of the closure of the transfer window.
“We have asked the Zifa chief executive officer to furnish us with the dates,” said Ndebele whose PSL and the Eastern and Southern Region Division One Leagues were the best-run among the country’s top soccer divisions.
There was less fighting compared to other seasons.
Zimbabwe’s representatives in continental competitions, Dynamos, FC Platinum, Hwange and Motor Action have been the busiest on the transfer market. This was precipitated by the fact that they had to register their players for the opening rounds by 31 December 2011. Motor Action registered Misheck Mburayi, Dominic Mukandi, Jonathan Chitereki, Morris Kadzola, Fortune ‘Fokoza’ Ncube, Protasho Kabwe and John Bernard. Motor Action, who were the defending champions, finished third on the Castle Lager Premiership.
League champions Dynamos have on their books Takesure Chinyama who returned from Poland recently, Zambians Arthur Kaseloka and Derrick Kabwe, Tineyi Chitora, Ocean Mushure and George Chigova.
FC Platinum, who are keen to make an impression in their debut continental competition after losing the domestic league championship at the death, released 11 players deemed under-performers last year and went into the market to seek replacements.
FC Platinum and Dynamos are taking part in the African Champions League.
Their hunt landed them Joel Mogorotsi from Botswana, former Bosso skipper Gilbert Banda, Frank Mulambo from Zambia, Welcome Ndiweni, Allan Gahadzikwa, Ali Sadiki, Qadr Amin, Rowan Nenzou, Thandazani
Ndlovu, Francis Tizayi, Mitchelle Katsvairwa and Cabby Kamhapa.
Hwange, who will be taking part in the Caf Confederation Cup, have signed Daniel Kamunenga, re-united with Farai Vimisayi, Tawanda Marere and Evans Rusike.
A majority of the players are either talking to prospective employers or back at training with their former teams with the rumour mill linking Simon Njeleza to both Highlanders and Chicken Inn.
Graham Ncube, scorer of nine goals for Highlanders last season, eight in the league and one in a tournament, is linked with a move to Hwange.
On Monday evening he refused to discuss his future.
“At the moment I am not keen to say anything lest I jeopardise my relations with my club Highlanders. If something comes I will let the nation know,” said Ncube.
