Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labanino, Fernando Gonzalez, Antonio Gurrero and Rene Gonzalez, the five Cubans, were arrested and imprisoned without fair trial on September 12, 1998 on spurious charges of conspiracy to commit espionage, murder and acting as an agent of a foreign government in the United States.
Though their government passed on documentation that the five were on a mission to gather information about Cuban-American terrorists’ attacks against Cuba to the FBI, they were still arrested and imprisoned without a fair trial.
