Sex scandal rocks Inyathi High

NINE pupils have been suspended and others punished at Inyathi High School in Bubi District for allegedly engaging in sexual activities at the school.
The nine pupils are four boys and five girls, eight of them in Form Four and one in Upper Six at the United Congregational Church of Southern Africa (UCCSA) run school, situated 68km from Bulawayo.
The alleged sex encounters between the pupils occurred on several occasions between 26 August and 9 September when Form Fours and Upper Six pupils had gone for holiday crash lessons.
Sources at the school said there were 16 boys and an unknown number of girls who would leave their hostels and engage in sex in Form Two hostels’ which were not occupied during that time.
The provincial education director for Matabeleland North Province, Mrs Boithatelo Mnguni, confirmed the case and said her office would soon serve parents of the affected pupils with letters informing them of their suspension.
Hwange trio killed in car crash

THREE people from Hwange Town died when a car they were travelling in veered off the road and hit a tree before catching fire.
The driver and a passenger who was seated in the front seat were burnt beyond recognition while the other person died on admission to Victoria Falls District Hospital.
Manhunt for armed robbers

POLICE in Inyathi have launched a manhunt for two suspected armed robbers who stole from two vendors $101 cash and some of their belongings at gunpoint.
Matabeleland North provincial police spokesperson Inspector Billie Dube, confirmed the incident, which he said happened on Sunday last week at about 8.53pm at Inyathi Mine Compound.
He said the vendors were at the compound selling their goods.

Rape cases decline in Mat South

MATABELELAND South has recorded 165 rape cases between January and August, a decline compared to 190 cases during the same period last year.
In an interview on Friday, the provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Christopher Ngwenya, attributed the decline to their intensified awareness campaigns.
