HARMONISED elections will go ahead in March next year and political parties that do not want to contest the polls will not be forced, President Mugabe said yesterday.
Addressing the 90th Ordinary Session of the Zanu-PF Central Committee in Harare, President Mugabe said the prevailing political environment was conducive for the holding of free and fair elections.
He said this was contrary to assertions by the MDC formations that the playing field was not level.
“The MDC-T is saying let us level the ground,” said President Mugabe.

THE Government and Essar Africa Holdings management are working on an implementation strategy to expedite the resuscitation of New Zimsteel.
Industry and Commerce Minister Professor Welshman Ncube on Thursday said the Government had completed its implementation strategy and was ready to present the report to Essar Holdings.
The long stalled Essar deal in which the Indian firm signed a $750 million takeover of the defunct Ziscosteel is set to be finally implemented after the Cabinet resolved recently, to stick to the original share structure.

Constituents in Shurugwi North in the Midlands province have varying opinions regarding development in their constituency since the 2008 harmonised elections, which saw Cde Francis Nhema being voted as their representative in the House of Assembly.
While some of them know him as their MP and recognise his efforts to developing the constituency, others thought he was concentrating more on some parts of the constituency leaving others unattended to.
Some people said he was concentrating too much on Tongogara where clinics and schools are now in a better state when compared to other areas.
