HOW is this possible?
A Venezuelan footballer has bent the laws of physics with the most incredible goal celebration football has seen.
Forward Cesar Martinez, who plays in for Venezualan Primera Division team Zamora, has been filmed performing one of the great illusions in world sport – or perhaps the greatest sorcery ever caught on camera.
The 24-year-old scored in his team’s 2-0 win over Caracas on Tuesday AEDT and his 70th minute long-range strike barely made the highlights reel.
All the match highlights were rightly focused on what came after Martinez’s 70th minute goal.
Martinez is filmed being given the ball by a teammate who picked it up from the back of the net.
He then assembles his teammates into a circle, huddled around in anticipation.
What happened next just doesn’t make sense.
WARNING: Do not watch this video if you don’t want to be scratching your noggin for the next hour.
Impossible goal celebration
Martinez’s incredible levitation trick hasn’t been mythbusted yet and the secret behind the illusion is yet to be revealed.
The video also shows Martinez, whose full name is Cesar Enrique Martinez Quintero, punt the ball down field immediately after the ball appears to float, suggesting the ball could not have been tied to his top hand.
Here’s a closer look at Martinez The Magnificent.
