AFTER being found guilty of bigamy last month a Dangamvura woman has hogged the limelight for the wrong reasons again for wrecking her best friend’s marriage by having an extra marital relationship with her husband. Tambudzai Muwandi of Nyamauru, who was found guilty of committing bigamy as defined in the Civil Marriages Act when she contracted a second marriage without annulling the first one last month is currently in the middle of yet another heated scandal where she is being accused of sleeping around with her best friend’s husband Passmore Matanga.
Efforts to contact Matanga and Muwandi were fruitless as their phones were not reachable. Muwandi however, has since been court summoned and is set to appear in court at a later date after being sued by Mai Tanya for adultery damages. Tambudzai’s best friend who only identified herself as Mai Tanya, told the Weekender that she has been assaulted and chased away by her husband because she confronted him over the love affair.
Mai Tanya said that she at times caught love Whatsapp messages between her friend and her husband in her husband’s phone. “I have always discouraged my husband on the tightness of his friendship with a married woman who also happens to be my best friend but he has always brushed me off saying that I was only being jealousy of their friendship.
“At most times, I have to send my child to get him at around 8pm from Tambudzai’s house since her own husband stays at the school where he teaches in Headlands,” said Mai Tanya.
She said Tambudzai was in the habit of bringing prepared meals to Matanga in her presence. She also said she caught her husband handing a bag full of groceries to Tambudzai’s son. “I asked Tambudzai’s son and he told me that my husband had instructed him to give the bag to his mother and so I went to Tambudzai and asked her what my husband had bought her. She denied having received anything from him”.
A neighbour Alice who witnessed the assault said Matanga assaulted his wife and her younger sister in front of children. “Everybody knows about Baba Tanya and Tambudzai’s shenanigans. Just recently they were seen at some popular doctor’s clinic here in Dangamvura and it is rumoured that she aborted his pregnancy”.
Another neighbour, Mai Takudzwa, said the illicit affair was known to everyone in Nyamauru. “It was just a matter of time, we all knew that the truth would be revealed. Tambudzai’s friendship to Baba Tanya is weird and last Tuesday, Mai Tanya was assaulted and sent packing by her husband because of that woman,” said Mai Takudzwa.
