Gospel musician Reverend Chivaviro has donated groceries and essentials to a children’s ward at Gokwe hospital that also helped save his life twice during his childhood.

Chivaviro, who turns 50 on January 22, has revealed plans to adopt the ward where he will occasionally donate drugs and food hampers.

In an interview, the Ebenezer hit-maker said:

“This is a special year, I am turning 50 years-old and to celebrate the milestone I decided to share my special gift with children at Gokwe hospital as part of my efforts to give back to the community.

“The hospital played a huge part during my childhood when my parents used to turn to the facility for help.

“There was no year that passed by without me being admitted into the children’s ward twice or thrice a year,” said Chivaviro.

Chivaviro said he went through two surgical operations as a child at the hospital.

“I deliberately chose the children’s ward at Gokwe hospital this years as I celebrate my 50th birthday because it holds a great significance to me, the institution was used by God to save my life.

“I have become who I am today because of the institution and nobody else gave me a chance to survive.

“So I thought of giving a cheer to the children in the ward, their parents and hospital staff just to appreciate and make a difference.”

He said he is still engaging authorities in order to officially become a benefactor for the entire children’s ward.

Meanwhile, the musician has lined up a number of celebratory activities, including launching his 20th album to celebrate his half century.

“I am currently putting final touches on my new album that will also drop in April, the launch and celebrations are set for Australia, Harare, South Africa, UK and USA.

“We have also lined up a number of videos from new and old songs,” he said.
