A BULAWAYO man tasted the long arm of the law after a heated “where are you from” interrogation went wrong.
Never Moyo (48) of Emthunzini was fined US$120 after he slapped his wife twice on the head during a heated evening interrogation.
Moyo appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Jeconia Prince Ncube, where he pleaded guilty to a charge of physical abuse and was told to pay up before 16 January 2026 or face 30 days behind bars.
The court heard that on 17 December at around 7 PM, Moyo’s wife Miriam Ncube (34) arrived home from doing piece jobs.
Prosecutor Cathrine Kuzu told the court that instead of welcoming his tired wife, Moyo demanded to know where she was coming from.
Things quickly turned ugly.
The court heard that Moyo lost his temper and rang two resounding slaps on Miriam, sending shockwaves through the household.
Fearing for her safety, Miriam ran out of the house and sought refuge at a neighbours’ house, turning the neighbourhood into a live drama series.
Although she did not suffer any visible injuries and did not seek medical attention, a police report was made and Moyo was soon picked up by the boys in blue.
In court, the slap-happy husband had no defence and admitted to the offence.
The magistrate came down on him with a US$120 fine, reminding him that fists and open hands are not tools for settling domestic arguments.
