“CAPS United failed to provide the response for the battering they received in Mutare, as they settled for a goalless draw against Manica Diamonds at the National Sports Stadium yesterday.
In the reverse fixture, the Green Machine conceded half-a-dozen goals at Sakubva.
Yesterday’s goalless draw saw both teams fluffing chances.
William Manondo was the first to miss the target after a good build-up by the hosts in the sixth minute.
Pasca Manhanga missed the biggest chance of the game in the 29 minute with only the goalkeeper to beat.
The introduction of Pawell Govere in the second half saw Makepekepe moving forward in numbers but it didn’t result in a goal.
CAPS head coach, Lloyd Chitembwe, believes his team has improved a lot, and it’s a matter of time before they start collecting maximum points. “There is quite a marked improvement in the way we are playing.
“Winning is the ultimate objective in a football match. The basics must be right and the boys are getting there. “We are just waiting for our time to win matches and get there.
“Ben (Musaka) has a great influence on how we want to play.
“Technically, he is sound and very intelligent, he is someone who is very comfortable with the ball and can give us options in distributing the ball. “There are some areas of his game we need to work on. His contribution has been immense so far.”
Manica Diamonds head coach, Johannes Nhumwa, said his team was still developing.
“It’s a good result, playing away from home against such a big team. It is commendable.
“CAPS have improved a lot.
“They are playing very well and today they also had the territorial advantage. “They were better this time around than when we beat them 6-2 in the first game.
“Missing chances is part of the game.
“The wins, which we started with, made people think we are a big team but the team is still growing up. “The good thing is we are still challenging,” said Johannes Nhumwa.
