THE PRIDE of Milton High School is ready to come home — literally! After pulling off another smashing edition of the Milton Rugby Schools Festival at Hartsfield Rugby Grounds last week, the school’s headmaster Similo Ncube has dropped a bombshell: next year, the scrum is heading to Milton’s own turf!
Since 2023, the festival has been locked into Bulawayo’s ceremonial rugby cathedral, but the winds of change are blowing — and they’re blowing straight onto Milton’s dusty but determined rugby fields.
“I believe very soon we’ll have the game at our own ground,” declared a fired-up Ncube.
“We have already broken through a borehole that has a lot of water. Water has been a stumbling block in the development of our grounds.”
That stumbling block is now history. With a solid water source secured, rehabilitation of the fields is already underway, paving the path for Milton to finally host their beloved festival right on home soil.
Watch this space — the kings of schoolboy rugby are building a fortress!
