A 30-year-old Harare businessperson, Mr Augustine Mukwenya, has taken a leading role in the fight against drug and substance abuse.

Mr Mukwenya recently launched an anti-drug campaign dubbed “Zero Drugs by 2030”.

Under the campaign, young peer educators will be deployed across the country to teach youths about the dangers associated with drug and substance abuse.

A philanthropist, Mr Mukwenya has set aside funds that will be used to empower the young people.

“Some of the youths are becoming drug addicts simply because they are idle,” he said.

“We are going to empower youths that are business-minded so that they work for themselves and avoid circles of bad influence.

“We have many intelligent young people who are failing to make it in life due to a number of factors, particularly drugs.”
