Security guard threatens to shoot employer

A security guard employed by Strike Security Company was dragged to court on Tuesday after he allegedly threatened to shoot the company’s Human Resources manager over unpaid salaries.

The 21-year-old Juda Gopito appeared before magistrate Ruth Moyo.

The complainant is Karen Rutendo Kaseke.

The parties are co-workers.

The court heard that on April 4, Gopito returned to the office from where he was deployed, armed with a service 303 rifle serial number 3608394 with a magazine of 4 rounds.

He pointed the gun at Kaseke demanding his unpaid salaries.

Kaseke tried to cool down Gopito who then threatened to shoot her if she failed to give him his five months’ salary arrears.

The Officer commanding operations Vengai Phiri went to report the matter at ZRP

Mabelreign.

Officers from the station attended the scene and Gopito was disarmed and arrested.

The 303 rifle with a magazine of four rounds was recovered.
