adminCharlton Mashumba may have done enough to put himself in with a chance to play for one of the big clubs in South Africa’s Premier Soccer League in the not-so-distant future.The Zimbabwean has been in scintillating form for Jomo Cosmos in their National First Division campaign of the 2014-15 season.
The striker has scored 12 goals in the league for Ezenkosi so far this season.
Mashumba is the second highest goal scorer in the NFD, behind Phumelele Bhengu of Thanda Royal Zulu. The player has been closely monitored by Mamelodi Sundowns this season.
The 22-year-old helped Cosmos remain in the chase for PSL promotion after scoring one of the goals in their 2-0 win over Baroka FC this past weekend.
However, Sundowns, or any other club interested in Mashumba, could struggle to get the player from Cosmos as the club’s boss Jomo Sono is believed to be interested in selling him overseas.
Sono has repeatedly insisted that he will only sell Mashumba to European clubs, but the Brazilians are reportedly interested in signing the striker
Coach Pitso Mosimane confirmed immediately after their final game of the season that they will bring in new players for the upcoming campaign.
“Sundowns continue to monitor Jomo Cosmos striker Charlton Mashumba as they want to sign him for the upcoming campaign,” reports The Citizen .
Mashumba terrorised opposition defences in the National First Division during the 2014-15 campaign, hitting 17 goals in 28 matches for EzeNkosi.
The 22-year-old forward has now netted two goals in two PSL promotion/relegation play-offs matches for the Johannesburg side. — Soccerladuma.
